World record holder for winning songs for Idol

Jörgen’s winning songs written for UK Pop Idol and American Idol might be his most well-known.  But his lyrics and music have been performed by Idol-winners all over the world, for example in Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Holland and Sweden.

On November 19, 2003, Guy Sebastian became the first to win Australian Idol. He released his winning song “Angels Brought Me Here”, co-written by Jörgen, five days later.

By selling more than 128,000 copies in one week, the single set two national records; for the highest first week sales by a debut artist and an Australian artist. Sebastian stayed at #1 on the Australian Aria Singles List for three weeks. It went on selling in excess of 303,000 units.

On January 7, 2010, Aria revealed that “Angels Brought Me Here” had become the nation’s best-selling single of the last decade.

Thus far Jörgen has written seventeen Idol winning songs, which makes him the world record holder.
