Danish Songwriters Guild (DPA) visited Stockholm last Friday, and I’d been asked to be the speaker at their members’ camp.

Together with really talented songwriters, obviously, I sat down for three and a half hours of Q&As, discussing how to write songs reaching the top of the international charts.

Thanks guys for listening, hopefully I could contribute with some pieces of advice. I’m really looking forward to meeting you again.

DPA (Danske Populær Autorer) is a nonprofit organization, democratically governed by its more than 700 auteurs among Denmark’s very best and most professional within all known popular genres of music.

Prior to Christmas Eve in 2009, neither wrapping gifts or for hours monitoring the turkey in the oven were my top priorities. Instead, I spent all my time in the music studio putting the finishing touches to the song “When You Tell the World You’re Mine”, composed exclusively for the upcoming Royal Wedding of H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel.

Well, on Christmas Day, after working on it for more than a year, the song was finally completed. I opened the studio door and asked if I might get a slice of that turkey.
(I did.)

Eight years ago, in 2005, I was presented with an exclusive gold record, saying my songs had participated in sales of more than 100 million records worldwide.

In connection to this special event, I sat down with a music journalist and discussed my career that far. We talked about songwriting, Simon Cowell, Westlife, Pop Idol and the winning song I co-wrote for the first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson.

Here is the article >>

Today, in 2013, some say that sales have exceeded 160 million. If that’s true, it’s absolutely amazing!

In 2010, I co-founded the publishing company Perfect Storm Music Group. Just a couple of months later, I signed Ali Tamposi, a geniously super talented songwriter. We’ve now worked together for two years, and Ali always proves that she has a rare gift. I’m very proud of her!

Less than two weeks ago, on February 10, Kelly Clarkson won a GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Vocal Album with “Stronger”. The title track, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”, nominated for Song of the Year, I wrote together with Ali, David Gamson and Greg Kurstin.

Here Ali tells the story on how our song came about – from its title to Kelly’s most successful Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit yet.
