The label 33,3
The record label 33,3 was founded in December 2010 by Jörgen Elofsson together with Leif Käck, CEO of the record company Roxy Recordings. Its first release is the album “Break the Spell”, recorded by legendary Swedish artist Björn Skifs.
Along with the singer Agnes, Skifs on June 19 2010 performed the duet “When You Tell the World You’re Mine” during the Royal Wedding ceremony of H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and H.R.H. Prince Daniel, a song Jörgen had composed exclusively for this unique event. The single was released the same day and instantly became a huge success. It was certified gold and stayed 35 weeks at #1 on the Swedish record chart.
By this time, Jörgen and Skifs already discussed to continue working together. Leif Käck suggested an album and the recordings started in spring 2011. Besides writing or co-writing all the songs, Jörgen also produced the album together with the music arranger Peter Nordahl.
“Break the Spell” came out on November 16 2011 and was soon certified gold. The title track was released as a single and went straight to #1 on the Swedish record chart, where it stayed for 11 consecutive weeks.
Fun facts:
On April 6 1974, Björn Skifs and his band Blue Swede climbed to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their cover of the song “Hooked on a Feeling”. It was the first #1 single on the US charts by a Swedish artist/group.
Coincidentally, on that same evening, ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. It was Sweden’s first victory of the competition.
